Day 13 - 2025 East Coast Adventure - Into Potatoland

7/30 - Fundy National Park to Linkletter provincial park

While we went to sleep to a fairly loud campground, we woke up to silence. I was actually up around sunrise and thought about heading down to the beach, but there were enough clouds that I said I'd rather stay at camp. So, I got some work done while every one else rested.

Soon enough Amy got up and, just as we mentioned to the boys the night before, she and I left camp to go do the waterfall hike. It was a crisp, cool morning and seeing the stream trickle through the valley was a great way to start the day.

We got back to camp and Robinson was just starting to stir. Amy took him to get some wifi and download more books on tape while I continued to work. Sebastian eventually got up and we all enjoyed a breakfast together before we packed up and hit the road.

The road today was identical to the road yesterday and we had plenty of company until we passed Hopewell rocks again. While it was almost exactly low tide and our ticket from yesterday would have gotten us back in, we all said we had seen enough and continue

d on north towards Moncton.

Moncton proved to be a much larger town than we expected. While we didn't stop, we did see lots of tall buildings which was certainly more than we thought would be in town. Soon enough we were out of the city and seeing signs for Prince Edward Island.

We were making great time, but as we came out of Moncton, we got stuck behind what appeared to be a homemade RV with the label "Not Fast, Not Furious".  It lived up to its name so we didn't make great time on the final miles or the bridge crossing.  I wish we could have grabbed a photo of this homemade monstrosity.  It was something.

Anyway, we crossed the bridge and into Prince Edward Island and arrived at the tourist trap just inside the island. Sebastian got a free poster, but that was all we got there (Robinson is still looking). From there, we made the last jump to camp after cruising past field after field of potatoes - who knew, right?!!

Camp turned out to be another field of grass that has been declared a campground. We were the last spot so we got to drive on the grass and drop off the trailer - no backing in!  We set up and then enjoyed some lunch.

After lunch, we decided to put our toes in the water. We found out it was AMAZINGLY warm. We had heard that PEI boasted the warmest beaches north of the Carolinas and they are right. It was perfectly pleasant to float in the ocean in Canada. Who knew?!!!

After finishing some laundry and having dinner, we headed into town. While we didn't find souvenirs again, we did find dessert. Ice cream for Robinson and fudge for Sebastian. Can you tell they were enjoying it?!!

Then we checked out the air force memorial before Amy and I also grabbed some ice cream at a different shop. Then we came back to camp where we walked the beach, watched the sunset, and played some family games.

While there wasn't a defining moment to the day, it felt like a very good day. Tomorrow will be a long drive day so finishing with the relaxing sunset watching sure felt like the right answer today!
