Day 23 - 2025 East Coast Adventure - A return home
8/9 - Shenandoah national Park, VA to HOME
Amy and I got up early and snuck out of the camper before the boys woke up. We turned on the coffee maker (thank you again solar generator!) and enjoyed the crisp, cool mountain air knowing that it would be the last we saw of it for a month or so. It sure was nice to avoid the heat of North Carolina summer for these past 3 weeks!
The boys eventually rolled out of the camper and we enjoyed one last griddle pancake morning!
Before we hit the road, Robinson also wanted to say he was on the Appalachian Trail so we redid the hike we did the day before with him. The boys made a stop to play on the rocks and it was nice to look out over the valley even if most of the valley was obscured in the clouds.
After the hike, we packed up camp for the last time, grateful that the camper's age didn't quite get the best of us in the middle of the trip! We hit the road and headed south.
After a short distance, we made our last donut stop of the tour - this time at Hill City Donuts in Lynchburg, VA. While they weren't our favorite donuts, it was a still a pretty cool place.
We then got back in the car for the final push home and arrived in the early afternoon. We unloaded the car and immediately started the process of putting life back to normal. Robinson ran out into the garden to see what all the rain we had heard Raleigh had gotten had done with our crops. Apparently, it made things gigantic!
I've heard it said that you know you've had enough vacation when it feels good to be home. While I'm sad that the trip had to come to an end, by the previous definition, I think I've had enough vacation. Now to recover and plan the next adventure! Trip mileage - 4,039
